About

Patrick Sterk, LCPC, JD, M.Ed.

Following attainment of a law degree and a career in higher education administration, Patrick Sterk pivoted to mental healthcare and earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Combining his years of experience working at a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) practice as well as work at a leading sex-positive practice in Chicago, Patrick created Effective Path as an evidenced-based therapy practice that offers leading services to individuals and couples seeking support and change in their lives.

Patrick is trained in DBT and employs its skills and concepts along with Narrative Therapy to help each client reframe their lived experience in a kinder, more forgiving light. With training in critical thinking, client support, and advocacy developed in law school, lived experience of career demands and management, and a personal journey of mental health and wellness, Patrick combines these disparate elements of knowledge and ability in service of his clients.

Ultimately, Patrick’s goal is to support each client in finding meaning in their life and to have the tools and resources necessary to pursue what matters most, their “life worth living.”

Jodie Yorg, LCPC, MBA, M.Ed.

After spending more than 15 years in the technology sector and earning an MBA from the Wharton School, Jodie Yorg transitioned into mental healthcare and earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Northwestern. Drawing from backgrounds in business, education, leadership, and clinical work, Jodie's work is grounded in the belief that people are not broken...they're simply functioning in systems not designed for them.

Jodie specializes in working with neurodivergent adults and couples, particularly those navigating Autism, ADHD, trauma, career stress, non-monogamy, and the complex relationship between achievement and self-worth. Her approach is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and deeply collaborative. Her goal is to help clients better understand themselves while building lives that feel more sustainable, authentic, and aligned with their values.

Combining evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as EMDR, ACT, DBT, and Gottman with practical insights, Jodie helps clients move beyond shame and survival mode toward greater self-trust, emotional safety, and clarity. Her work is especially informed by an understanding of executive functioning, nervous system regulation, masking, and the impact of chronic invalidation on mental health.

Ultimately, Jodie’s goal is to help clients develop a kinder relationship with themselves while creating lives and systems that support who they already are.
